Labrador Retrievers and Children

Nothing goes together quite so naturally as children and Labrador Retrievers.   However, young children and growing puppies both need supervision and lessons in playing well together.  Parents must take the time to teach children how to play gently with the puppy and teach the puppy how to enjoy the children while exercising self control.

Children should not pull on the puppy's ears, tail or legs and should not poke the puppy.  The puppy should be taught to refrain from biting and mouthing little children's clothes, shoes and hands. With an appropriate investment in training and supervision, the children and puppy will have a lifetime relationship of love, trust and fun.
