Cygnet Origin
Cygnet
Labradors had its origin through the
generosity of Rhiannon Houchins (Feather
Downs Labradors),
the guidance of Laura Dedering (Folklaur
Labradors)
and the
assistance of many other Labrador breeders.
The original
Cygnet family members are
largely traced to the Folklaur line
which is based on the foundation bitch Ch
Finchingfield Folklaur, CGC TDI ("Raven").
Raven was out of Ch. Briary Brendan of
Rainell and Ch. Briary Bustle from the
Briary lines of Marjorie Brainard. Raven
was bred by Marilyn and Richard Reynolds and
was a member of the first Finchingfield
litter.
Objectives
My primary
objectives are to enjoy the companionship of
my Labradors and to breed exceptional family
companions with sound health, temperament
and physical condition. I generally keep
between seven and ten Labradors and plan,
breed and raise about one litter per year.
However, over the last several years I have
scaled back my Labrador activities to focus
on job responsibilities. I hope to
return to fully active involvement in a few
years.
My breeding
program is designed to preserve the strong
traits, including the expressive head,
balanced angulation, correct double coat,
well placed shoulder, reach of neck and
otter tail. My breeding decisions are made
to blend line breeding with selected
outcrosses to strengthen and improve type
and soundness.
